Thunder Root Project is a progressive new acoustic quartet made up of guitarist Baron Tymas, multi-instrumentalist Anthony Peterson, bassist Jason Foureman and percussionist Brevan Hampden. The musical heritage of the group spans continents and eras, and its vibe is buoyant and inspiring. All of the band members have performed extensively with some of the greatest artists in jazz and popular music. DC native Tymas is well-known to music fans in the Triangle area through his own groups, the NCCU Jazz Studies Program and his work with many local/regional artists. Peterson’s exciting guitar playing has been featured on tour with Cassandra Wilson, Lizz Wright, Oliver Lake and many others. Betty Carter/Jazz Ahead alumnus Jason Foureman’s propulsive groove has been a staple of the Triangle/Triad scene for over a decade. Hampden, the youngest in a family line of great drummers, has been on the road with Joey Calderazzo and others before, during and after his undergrad career at NCCU. This group will feed your soul while they make you move, dream, think, and even laugh.
