Sharp 9 Gallery/Durham Jazz Workshop
Durham Jazz Workshop
Born in High Point, NC and a long time resident of Greensboro, Cliff Greeson started piano lessons at 8 years old; drums at 10. Early on, his Dad had him playing to old New Orleans records. He joined his first band at 11 (with “Handsome” Alan Heckle and David Wood), played in high school band and subsequently attended the Berklee College of Music and UNC-Chapel Hill.Cliff has quietly but mightily contributed to the NC music scene for many years, holding down the drums for many notable bands, including Tornado (30 years), Swamp Cats, Piedmont Songbag, Little Alfred Band; as well as various bands featuring Sam Frazier, Scott Manring, Scott Sawyer and the late Greensboro legends Billy “Ransom” Hobbs and Dakota “Little King” Joe.
