Frank Myers
I have been drawing, painting and photographing things my entire life. Always a skilled illustrator, I was introduced to action painting and abstract imagery in college under the instruction of internationally-know abstract painter, Herb Jackson. That exposure was instrumental in changing my thinking about imagery from the purely literal to a more conceptual approach and has informed my artistic vision ever since. As life moved forward, I switched my artistic focus almost entirely to photography until several years ago when I discovered Corel® Painter™ and began to experiment with digital painting. I have enjoyed rediscovering painting and drawing by combining the latest digital tools with more traditional photographic treatments.
My involvement with The Art of Cool Project began with their very first After Hours Concert at LabourLove Gallery in Durham. I am a gallery artist at LabourLove so I was present for our Third Friday Durham reception and, as the night was coming to a close, I noticed that they were setting up for a jazz performance. As a musician who loves and plays jazz, I stayed for the show and snapped a few iPhone photos. My first works for The Art of Cool Project came from those images and, by the second event with Shana Tucker, I came ready to shoot with professional equipment.
Frank Myers has been working as a professional photographer for nearly twenty years. He is a veteran sports and nature photographer and a master of the action shot. He currently works as a wedding and fine art photographer for Sweet Life Studios. http://www.sweetlifestudios.com
