Great things are happening at the Durham Jazz Workshop/Sharp 9 Gallery:

• Three weeks ago we purchased, from Ruggero Piano, a beautiful Yamaha C7 which is a 7’’6” concert grand-piano. This piano will attract the best piano performers to the Sharp 9 Gallery and we expect some great performances in the upcoming months. ***Fun fact: One of the last times Ruggero’s rented the piano was for a private fundraiser in Raleigh where John Legend performed on it. The piano cost $27,000.
• The rental unit just next to the Durham Jazz Workshop will become available in May. We hope to acquire the space. Two critical reasons for expanding: 1. We will be able to cut a doorway connecting the two spaces and concertgoers will now have access to a very much needed 2nd bathroom. 2. The new space will have more rooms for the DJW to expand its teaching program and start jazz camps for adults and youth.

It’s just remarkable what YOU, the community, have helped create at the workshop. Your support has permitted us to provide the community with some great concerts, and to develop new classes. Your continued support will permit us to provide more comfort, to expand our programs and keep our fees and ticket prices low.
