Without fanfare, Will Goble is steadily carving out a unique space for himself as a bassist and composer. Driven by a genuine love for group interaction and positive exchange with audiences, he supports other musicians and leads his own bands with equal energy and enthusiasm. Hailing from Durham, North Carolina, and a graduate of Florida State University, Will counts bassist Rodney Jordan and world-renowned pianist Marcus Roberts as key mentors. Currently the touring bassist with the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet, Will has appeared with numerous other notable artists, including the aforementioned Roberts, Vincent Gardner, Wess Anderson, Eric Reed, Marcus and Joan Belgrave, Marcus Printup, Martin Bejerano, Eric Rasmussen, Mike Kocour, Greg Tardy, Richard Johnson, Fred Wesley, and Stephen Riley, to name a few. Will’s first album as a leader, “Some Stories Tell No Lies” was released in 2012 and features Potter and Johnson alongside Will, saxophonist Chad Eby, and LCJO trumpeter Marcus Printup. Will can also be heard on recent releases from Jason Marsalis, Miguel Alvarado, and the Atlanta Young Lions. After receiving his masters degree at FSU in 2008, Will spent a number of music-filled years in Atlanta, GA before relocating to Phoenix, where he is a jazz faculty member at Scottsdale Community College, leads his own group, and performs regularly alongside the city’s top musicians.
