The DJW will offer 2 youth big bands this Winter/Spring Semester:
SATURDAY BIG BAND: January 17 - April 25, 2026 (concert)
The group will be directed by Jason Bohde and meet on Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 am for 12 weeks. To end the semester there will be a concert on Saturday April 18.
Open to middle and high school students. Interested students should fill in the Youth Registration Form. Students do not need prior jazz experience, but should have several years experience on their instrument.
SUNDAY ADVANCED ENSEMBLE: January 18 - through April, 2026 - audition and info click here.
This advanced group will be directed by Kobie Watkins and meet on Sundays from 9:30 am to 11 am for 12 weeks. To end the semester there will be a concert.
Tuition: $400
Instrumentation: brass (trumpet/trombone), saxophonists (alto, tenor, baritone) and piano/bass/guitar/drums
Financial aid scholarships are available. The Durham Jazz Workshop never turns down an eligible student based on money.
