The DJW will offer 2 youth big bands this Winter/Spring Semester:
Saturday Big Band: January 17 - April 25, 2026 (concert)
The group will be directed by Jason Bohde and meet on Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 am for 12 weeks. To end the semester there will be a concert on Saturday April 18.
Sunday Big Band: January 18 - April 25, 2026 (concert)
The group will be directed by Kobie Watkins and meet on Sundays from 10:30 am to 12 PM for 12 weeks. To end the semester there will be a concert on Saturday April 19.
Tuition: $400
Students do not need prior jazz experience, but should have several years experience on their instrument.
Open to middle and high school students. Students should plan on participating the entire school year. Interested students should fill in the Youth Registration Form.
Instrumentation: brass (trumpet/trombone), saxophonists (alto, tenor, baritone) and piano/bass/guitar/drums
Financial aid scholarships are available. The Durham Jazz Workshop never turns down an eligible student based on money.
